well Ive been reading all these reports on the preston area and think on my may 9th all day trip I might need to go that way because I have 2 or 3 guys that have never bass fished but the only lake Ive ever fished in that area is twin lakes and it sounds like water is low and its about a 1hr 1/2 to 2hr drive from idaho falls would it still be worth a try or do we need to just stay around here Ive just got the bass itch and need to get into some any suggestions

I'd try some of these .,?! On the end of your lines for better results. But seriously, check out that Smallie pic in the Walcott post. It's giving me bass fever too!

Even a largemouth can appreciate punctuated English. [Smile]

Most of the reservoirs in the area have largemouth and can be fun fishing. Condie used to be really good for some decent quality bass, but they drained it last year and most of the fish are likely gone now. Glendale, Weston, Winder, Treasureton, Oneida, Lamont and Johnson all have largemouth and could be worth a shot. However, looking at the fatty from Walcott, I think I might save some gas if I were you and stay closer to home. There are lots of bass down around Preston, but the Snake River drainage definitely produces more good sized ones in my opinion.

thanks for the input I have never fished the snake for bass what is a good general area to fish for them and do I need to wait a few weeks for it to warm up more we will be fishing a lot of the snake if we dont head that way for trout so why not target some bass if we are in a good area for them thanks

I'll admit, I haven't fished the Snake River or its reservoirs, it was more of an observation. Over here near Preston, the reservoirs are quite small and subject to severe draw downs. It seems like just when the population has a good balance of larger fish, the reservoir gets drained and we have to start over again. Still fun fishing, but as you can see from the pics, there are some very nice fish in Walcott and other reservoirs on the Snake.
