I tried to take my kids fishing at the Knolls today and everything to the South of pelican point is now posted as private. I did some searching on here and on Google and didn't come up with any mention of this. The DWR website still has it listed as an access point too. Anyone know what is going on? I figured that was all BLM land, except for the land immediately South of the knolls that has been marked private for as long as I've been going there. I've always been disgusted at all of the trash that gets left down there, so if it is private I can't fault the land owner at all. What a shame though, my family has really enjoyed that place.

I did just check the Utah County parcel maps, and sure enough, all of the shoreline in that area is private. Bummer....

[#0000FF]The posted signs started going up about this time last year but the whole area was officially closed off about late fall of 2012. There have been several discussions on this forum.

Current situation is that DWR is working with a group of the landowners and the Utah County Commission to restore at least partial access to a lot of the lake shore area...with only limited road access and the rest of the land fenced off to keep the public out.

We can thank careless shooters, property vandals and mindless trashers for making the land owners decide to close off that area. If it is ever opened up again we must make sure that it doesn't get closed permanently for the same reasons.

Progress is being made and all parties are open and working together to try to work out something that is agreeable to all involved. But the wheels turn slowly and may take more time.

I was there the Saturday before Easter Sunday, I launched from AF and piloted all the way to the Knolls. I saw a ton of people in campers and riding ATV's. I thought it was closed but there were sure a lot of people camping.

[#0000FF]I heard from another source that the land owner allowed a couple of groups to camp there for that holiday weekend. But he stayed on the scene and ran everybody else off. Some folks have tried to talk him into giving a written permission to fish there but he is holding firm.
