Finals week went really well. I studied my butt off and my grades reflected it. Decided to pack the tube and head up to Idaho for Largemouth. [inline weston.jpg]
Water levels are up from the last visit, and water temps are in the mid 50s. Perfect. I packed my tube and hiked back to my put in.

I planned on working several points, finding the active fish with hardbaits, then working them thoroughly with plastics. I caught several fish off of the first point. After catching a few, things seemed to taper off, so I moved to the next point. I found a small ledge which abruptly dropped several feet. I would kick my way past the ledge and let the wind drift me back over it picking up several fish on each cast as the plastics dropped off the ledge.

Beautiful colors on some of these guys...

I caught quite a few bass in the 11-13" range, including two jumbo 12" yellow perch.

I briefly considered taking them home for a fry or maybe even some tacos, but in that department, I stand alone. My wife wont touch fish.
As the evening moved on, I found that the fish moved deeper. They remained active enough to catch, but a slow presentation was key. I made an honest attempt at finding some larger fish but was unsuccessful.
I ended the evening with 59 bass and 2 perch, all from 11-14". On the way back to the truck, I picked up quite a bit of trash. If you fish Weston, please dont litter- the land owners reserve the right to close fishing to the public. If you make plans to fish here, be aware, FLOAT TUBES ONLY. You will be asked to leave if you launch a pontoon.

After loading my truck and getting some warmer clothes on, I sat for a while and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Life can get pretty crazy sometimes. Fishing is so much more than a hobby. Im grateful to be able to experience and share.
