What a great day on the water. If I was to ever fish a tournament on Lake Mead today would of been that day to be in one. Would of had just shy of a 18lb 5 fish limit to take to weigh in... You don't read about that high of a 5 fish limit on Mead too often.

Caught just shy of 40 today. A couple Stripers, a couple SMB and a whole bunch of LMB. Including a new personal best (PB) for both of us. Madi caught a 4 1/4 pounder and I finally broke the 5lb mark. Just before she caught the 4 1/4 pounder she landed a nice 3+ that I didn't weigh. We caught all 3 inside of 15 minutes back to back to back. Plus several close to 3 pounders to round out the day. She is getting better and better at using a baitcaster. She caught all her fish today winging a worm around plus a striper on a lipless. (I caught a little over half of the fish but not many past...) Heck right off the bat she had 6 in the boat before I had 2.

Those two bigger ones sure tested her rod. She is using a medium/fast rod of mine that I had no use for after upgrading many of my rods. I don't use a medium for anything but spinning rods and a baitcaster/cranking (medium heavy for anything with a single hook is my theory and medium for anything with trebles).

Anyways... She sure can use that rod. She doesn't miss too many fish with it either (maybe those silly sharp Trokar hooks help a little [Wink] ). She had the poor thing almost doubled over working those two bigger fish. Heck at one point I seen her reach up forward of the reel towards the first eyelet for extra leverage on her rod trying to horse that big 4 1/4 pounder around and keep it out of the engine prop and the brush. Matter of fact all 3 of the bigger ones we caught today were the most spunky/fiesty fish I have seen/caught on Mead. I swear they all had nitros bottles strapped to their backs! What a fight that 5 pounder put up. I used up ever strand of the 15lb Fluorocarbon I was using to horse that thing around and keep it out of the nasty stuff. Glad the girl was quick on the net!

Anyways some pics to round it all out...

Madi's first good one of the day. Didn't weigh it but well into the 3 pound club.

I'd of been darn happy to ever catch 3 from shore. I don't think we ever did on Mead. That is one seriously hard place to fish from shore!

No tourneys for us. Too much stress and $$. It is all about getting out of the house and enjoying the day away from the city!

I've hit that area 4-5 times in the last year or so and never caught anything. I buzzed over there Saturday for the heck of it, not thinking much about the area, and tossed a spinnerbait all over really quick just to see if it was worth messing around slower. About the time I am ready to say lets roll she hooks a nice one on a texas rigged worm. Then a couple casts later another, her biggest. I couldn't get a worm rod in my hands fast enough! Moving/searching baits certainly weren't cutting it.

(After the fact I should of spun the boat to the hillside for the pics... TMI in those pictures. lol. I almost didn't post them, but what the heck... Sharing)

Seeing as how fast the lake is dropping that spot won't be there in 2-4 weeks... Why I did go over there... Knowing I won't be able to much longer.

Yeah, we've lost 10 feet in 2 months. At this rate, we'll be down another 25 feet by September. Not looking forward to that....

Nice catches man!
