After stalking the forum for some time I thought I may as well pitch in a little bit. I don't get out as often as I used to but I thought I'd throw out a report from last weekend.

Fished Yuba for a second time and killed it on perch rapalas it he shallows. Best hit was between 9-11 and again around 3 pm. Biggest was a hair under 6 lbs but most were 2 or so average. We had 5 cut our lines so I'm thinking it is time to learn how to use some sort of leader. Is steel leader the only way to go or can we use a heavier fluorocarbon test?

So you catching rainbows then? [blush]

sorry - kidding, I do that.
So many reports that folks don't identify WHAT they caught, amd everyone assumes it planterbows.

From your fine report, I can presume you were onto those Northern Pike - I only wish we had up north - somewheres.

sounds like fun fishing. welcome aboard. Nice catching too. I know some of our Musky folks go with really heavy mono, and skip the lead lead. I now that heavy metal leader can mess with a jig's action.
