Full Version: Inflatable bass tournament

Hi folks,

Im just trying to generate interest in a possible alternate watercraft bass tournament in the Preston area this summer.

Alternate watercraft would basically mean float tubes and pontoons, but inclusions could be made for kayaks, canoes, crawdads, etc. We obviously wouldn't have a weigh in, but could easily devise a points system based upon photos taken against a proof, similar to currently held tournaments on the forum.

Prizes could be cash. It doesn't have to be a huge buy in.

This post is intended to generate ideas and gauge interest in a tournament for non-boat owners looking to have a little friendly competition.

If you're remotely interested, or have any ideas, feel free to share.

One problem the two main and best bass fisheries in the area are not going to be any good. Condie was drained and isnt worth the time. And twin lakes isnt even to the beds yet and im afraid it prolly will not even make it so no spawn this year there. Sure there are other places but they have no where near the quality of fish the other two had. Twin lakes already had a tourney on it this year for bass may 4th and only 11 participants but that is allot of fish that chances are didnt survive. Just saying. It would be a tough one this year.

Time and finances are in limited supply, and considering the large size of the state of Idaho, this tournament would be in the Preston area specifically.

I dont mean to be rude but im sure you could arrange tournaments in your area. Im not looking to setup an organization or make a bunch of money, just looking to see if anyone would be interested in a low pressure tournament which doesnt require a boat or livewell.

Constructive feedback and relevant input are greatly appreciated. Im definitely not trying to unleash any debates on this one.

Ive only fished it once, but do you think Glendale would be a feasible option for a bass tourney? The water was up pretty high when we went, and there were incredible amounts of shore access for launching.

Just remember you can only have 20 participants unless you get it approved through the Fish and Game.

Glendale is ok but soon as school lets out it is a mad house there.

I just ran up to Glendale Monday evening after work to screw around for an hour or two. I didn't bring my tube with me cause time was limited and I just wanted to check out the scene at Glendale since it has been years since I'd fished it. I usually head over to twin lakes this time of year to try and catch the bass in the shallows but recently have been trying to find alternate places to catch good sized bass without paying a parking fee. So mostly scouting around I spent maybe an hour fishing from the shore at Glendale working the cover to see if the bass were up yet. The only fish I caught were off the edge of the cover still in deeper water. It appeared to me they are still in pre-spawn mode but I don't know with the extreme weather swings lately I'm sure the spawn is all screwed up. Anyways I caught two nice ones including a 3 pounder (see picture below). As far as holding a float tube tournament there I think Glendale appears to be a place that could produce some decent sized bass but it is a very popular boating lake for the area. Even being there on a Monday night there were a couple boaters out there skiing and what not. For that reason I think it would be difficult for a float tourny.
