Hit holmes creek on wed for first time out there this year then again on sat, both days the fishing was good for bass. I seen some really nice sized ones sat cruzin the shallows but could not get them to even look at a bait. trick worms and tubes worked the best, no beds yet that I could see and did not see any crappie yet up in the brush.the water has come up about a foot in the last three days. water temps I am sure were still high 50's water clearity about 10+ feet. Shore anglers were rippin lips on the trout and looked to be all were getting a good limit.
good luck.

I just got to give everyone a warning. I'm an itchy son of a....... right now! That holmes creek has the most poison ivy in the state of utah! I think I'm done with that place for a while. There's so much ivy you won't see the 3 leaves till you've already ran into it. It can soak through a shirt and pants. I've got it underneath my shirt and legs too. It won't stop itching, I'm ready to put a lighter flame to my skin LOL......ughhhhhhh At this point those lmb are not worth that ivy. I'll take some pics of myself later and post when I get the chance.....damn.

Nope no need to its gtg, that's why I just went and bought a canoe. This was the first trip with it.

I thought you couldn't use float tubes or canoes on that pond?

I wasn't gonna let everyone know or say anything for a while but I thought everybody deserves to fish such a good fishing hole from a boat. Go by and ck it out. It's great. Thanks to the ski club.

Thanks to the ski club it is open for non motorized boats. This will be a fun fishery now. Holmes here i come.

When did this happen? Homes Creek used to be a dynamite place to fish before they rebuilt the damn. Shore access I think is one of the biggest reasons the fish did well because they couldnt get the pressure other areas would.
great little pond. Sure wish we had more like it around. Pretty tough to do in desert [:/]

I just saw the info the other day in the DWR fishing reports that I get. Nice to be able to use a tube now.

I was just curious how they launch a boat big enough to tow skiers? Noticed 97 on your shirt (old Kurt Busch fan?)
[signature]
Still a fan. I watched them put a boat in sat while out there and they had no problem, used a dirt ramp on south side of dam.

You and I must be the only Kurt Busch fans around, I pull for his brother as well. I'm not one of the Gordon or Johnson groupies, I like the "Rowdy ones". [:p] I'll bet the locals like the sound of a ski boat breaking the serenity down there on the pond. You would think the wakes from the boats won't take long to tear up the steep shorelines. I'm sure glad I got to fish that little pond in its prime.[:/]

Ice up did really good for me this last year. I seen some pigs in there on sat pushing 5+ another week of warm weather and it will be hot. So hope the hay days are back only time will tell.

Its now open to non-motorized, a week after I sold my tubes! damn.

Interesting regulations for this water...

If the skiers say leave I guess you have to go.

I haven't been over there yet, but I called Fish & Game yesterday and they said signs with rules are posted around the lake. Supposedly only certain areas you can use a water craft in, I think he said East of the marker bouys.[fishin]

This is from the DWR, good info to have when wanting to fish no?[cool]
HOLMES CREEK RESERVOIR: (May 10) Fishing has improved for small trout. Try traditional baits, spinners or wet flies. For tips on how to use flies with spinning outfits, see this [url "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9BrJbALZzM"]brief video[/url]. The water is rising (it's now up to the vegetation), which can make access difficult during the summer season. The reservoir is now open to angling from non-motorized boats. (The DWR has a cooperative agreement with the irrigation company that owns this private reservoir.) Please respect this opportunity by packing out all trash and following the guidelines posted at the reservoir.
