Hi guys, I recently treated myself to a tyrnos 30 wide and was wondering what would be the best way to clean it after a day of fishing... Would it be smart to dunk it in a bucket of warm water after tightening the drag or just spray it with the water hose? Thanks!

After a trip offshore, I usually wash mine down with soap and water, with the brush I wash my car with. Make sure you get the eyes on the rod, and not just the reel. At a minimum, hit it with the hose under pressure to break up the salt deposits. Dunking it in water doesn't do anything but get it wet.

Also, I lube my reels internal parts with a VERY light coat of Vaseline. It does a GREAT job of deflecting any water that makes it's way into the reel, and is also a wonderful lubricant that can withstand high heat. Just make sure and keep it light, and don't get it on the drag components.
