Well the 1A hatch was in full effect at CJ this weekend reminded me of that scene in Jaws when all the tourists brought there boats out trying to catch a shark.
1st - I was fishing on a friday afternoon, and doing really well and some non-locals literally got there boat withing 10" and casted in front of my boat. something was said and they got the point. Find a place work the water, figure it out
2nd - I don't know if its a macho thing, but please stop putting up things like CJ 12/12 and telling everyone on internet fishing is crazy good, let people figure some stuff out on there own, it will build a little character. 1A-ers people see that and the place is a mad house for the next week. Not to say it isn't their right it just messy when people start putting stuff out there in the open PMs are nice.
3rd - Establish some personal limits on fish, ITS NOT AN ENDLESS RESOURCE, and slamming 48 quart coolers with fish day in and day out isn't gonna last very long. The people I hear complain about poor fishing tend to be the people who abuse the fishery the most.

Most will read this and dismiss, or complain, I simply could care less. This is a vent from a guy that has been a steward of Idahos outdoor resources for a Decade and wants to see it continue with prosperity for the next decade. Use it, dont abuse it!

Hi IDHunter,
Some random thoughts about your post. First, welcome to the site. I am a but Confused, however. I see this forum as basically a sharing site, not a braggin' board. I have had many great days on the water thanks to fellow contributors who have generously contributed information, and can say that I have done the same for many. I wonder why you would have joined this site if you believe that "people should figure out stuff on their own" and "it builds character". I do agree with you that sometimes particulars are best shared on PM's in that lurkers choose not to share. One of my fellow moderators is so generous that he has offered to meet people on the steelhead/salmon waters and instruct them on fishing techniques.....now that is one altruistic person. You do make several good points, but sharing...hey, it feels pretty good!! Mike

i don't think it is just the 1A's i would say 1A's are just as much a local at strike as any one else the thing about it is no matter where you go this time of year you are going to have to put up with people and their crap it does piss me off when people crowd me when i am fishing but trust me it is not just people form ada county that do that also i have yet to see a report on here that say fish right next to this guys boat and you will catch fish

I believe the lack of etiquette on the water is probably what the heart of the problem is, I too agree that sharing info on this site is invaluable and certain information should be shared in a PM, but to single out the 1A crowd is probably not the best way to go about it. I fish the Southeast corner of the state and have to deal with license plates from several states and counties, for the most part everyone plays nice together, but their are certainly just as many on the water who show zero respect to anyone else. I also agree that we need to protect our resources and only take what we are going to eat in the near future, several coolers full of crappie, perch or bluegill are usually more than someones going to eat in a couple of sittings.

I agree that some people abuse their "right to fish". Some people keep more than they should. But blaming a county hardly seems accurate. Same goes for a demographic. But here again, I too, do see the trends.

I'm fairly certain that "public lands" doesn't mean "LOCAL ONLY public".

I will remember to ask your permission if I ever want to fish at CJ strike.

And, since you don't approve of the "1A-ers" being in your neck of the woods, does that mean you only fish in your county? Pot meet kettle?

I will say with respect to the 1A comments...Its not fair or appropriate to lump a whole county as some sort of larval bug hatch infesting CJ...but that being said...otherwise I agree wholeheartedly with IDHunter...cudos for having the balls to come on out with it...and those of you who seem put out or disagree with what he said, I wonder if you have done these things he referred to...or fished on top of someone...if so...shame on you...LOL..resources require managing...by us as well as F&G...now lets all drink a beer and go do some more fishing....

On one hand I get where you are coming from...I wish that Idaho would remain a rural place and that the "big city" people would stay in the big city. Sometimes I admit that the "utah hatch" gets under my skin, but thats just me being selfish and wishing for solitude nothing against our neighbors to the South.

I agree that some things are best left to PMs. CJ, however is a big body of water that will see a lot of pressure no matter what.

I also agree that we need to be reasonable and careful with the resource since we all have to share with so many people these days.

That being said this 1Mer will be invading 1F and just about every other county in southern Idaho this summer. I come in peace.[:p]

I've been hitting the 1F'ers the past couple of weeks with not much luck, I'll be heading over to visit the 4C'ers this weekend.

Meat board post at its finest. Who are the people you would concider "Local" to C.J Strike res ??? Grandview ?? Mountain Home ??

C.J probably has more fisherman hours regardless of any fishery in southwest Idaho, and thats not a brand new thing since the internet. I have fished it since the early 70's and can say its not gotten any better or worse. It goes in cycles.

The 1A hatch at C.J Strike. Thats just stupid. Get mad at what people do, not where they live. And dont sit there and think that some of the people who fill coolers with fish dont have Elmore county plates.

This ranks right up with the " I eat fish five days a week anybody know where I can catch some " post I saw the other day.

Well I for one got something different from his post then the rest of you! I don't think he was saying anything more than 9 out of 10 boats at CJ, have 1A plates!
I too agree about letting people figure out things a little on their own or I will private message when I have info that a person can use! I have shared several PM recently with several different people!
I agree with IDHunter completely! When I see a post like some you post, (CJ on fire) (killn walleyes at salmon) (perch by the 100s ice fishing at CJ) etc, you get my point!!! These kind of posts just PISS me off to no end! For example: I was catching perch at CJ with just a handful of others through the ice! LOW & BEHOLD, one of you and you know who you are, posted how good it was on this site! Well the next Wednesday there were 69 people on the ice! Guess what? When you post titles and stories about how good places are, you also are probably creating the demise of a good fishery for a while! Imagine how many of those perch at CJ would have made it through the winter had it not been for people opening their pie holes!
Sharing info on private messages is one thing, sharing it with everyone on this site and all of the INFO POACHERS is a huge mistake!
I live in Twin and I have been nailing the cats over on the west side of the state but there is no way in hell I would share that info! Not only for myself but also for the few locals that know about it as well!

To all of you on your high horses! Saying his post was stupid and that you will ask his permission to fish CJ!!! If you have ever been to CJ, you would know that the 1A crowd fill up the boat parking lots! That's all that was said! Not once with any common sense, should you have read anything different! HE DID NOT say that the person that moved in on him, was from Boise! That person could have been from anywhere!

Maybe There Are So Many 1A PlaTes Because Of Population. ther Are 410,000 People In Ada County And 80,000 In Elmore. That Doesnt Make Ada County People Bad. I Am From Ada County And Try And Help Anyone That Needs It. And I Am Courteous To Everyone On The Water. I Really Think They Should Put A Limit On The Crappie And Perch At Cj.

No man... it was stupid. " Non Locals".. Who are the locals at C.J Strike ??? If you want to divide up Idaho into that small of a patch and profile ?? Reads like this

Utards > first question is always " whats the limit "
Cracker > Fishes for steelhead in April and May when they are all but dead and posts hero pics.
Orientals> Keep everything that swims and often sell what they catch.
Boznians> Wear track pants and white Adidas and abuse the hell out of the limits on steelhead down at Hells Canyon Dam
People with 2C plates > Drive like crap

The 1A hatch... sounds like something the people in Valley county would say while looking even further down the noses at a E plate.

Sound dumb ?? it is

Several of you have posted that you would never disclose info on this site. So.........why are you visiting this site frequently?? Oh, I get it. To get information, right? Which makes you a registered lurker! Mike
[signature]
so you've been a "steward" here for a decade. what about the ada county boys, and anyone else, that has been a "steward" for many, many more years than you? some, probably their entire lives. i'd say that trumps your decade. you need to buy a shorter horse.

Regulars that share things through private messages are NOT lurkers! Every person on this specific post said that they will or like to share info through PM!
I have never once obtained anything of value from this forum except from idron! And all of that info was shared through PM only! I have fished my catfish spot 9 times in the last two years and I have not seen another soul! You my friend can share ALL of the hot info you want about your spots! I bet you people that immediately got defensive about the title of his post, are the first to bitch about your spots being over harvested or cluttered up with a bunch of trash! There was way more to his post than just the title!!!!!!
This original post had several great points and was overlooked by a few because of the title! (1A hatch) BFD pull your panties up over hurt butt and move on!

Read the whole paragraph not just the ONE line! Doesn't matter if it has been one year, 10 or 50! If he truly is a steward of Idaho and its outdoors and he wants to see it prosper for the next decade, then he is far better than some people! Fish the snake from Weiser down to Steck park and you will know what I mean!

I fished Strike 3 days this weekend. We pounded the fish. I brought home about 10 to 15 a night enough for dinners for me and the folks I was fishing with. I watched people from many different places (Oregon, Idaho, and Utah boat numbers) act like jerks. I chose to move to another spot, because there are fish everywhere in that lake. Seems like someone sees one guy catch a fish and they all want to fish that spot. We were trolling for crappie on Friday and had one boat jump on every spot we caught a fish. I watched the same boat do the same thing to other folks Saturday. Epic behavior. same with the guys that anchored up 10 feet away and then had the gall to thank me for finding the fish.

I will throw out there that people that stereotype based on license plates are the same dudes that have locals only stickers in their trucks but drive 4 hours to crowd people out of a salmon spot at RIGGINS or OROFINO. Yeah, I grew up in the 1A, but don't live there anymore. I have been a steward of Idahos resources for 35 years, volunteered thousands of hours for conservation and fishing education, not just a donation to some conservation charity every year, and educated hundreds of folks on how to preserve our sporting traditions.

Yea, we get it. I see things getting worse before they get better. Wait till Boise is a million people...
