As well anyone hiked it lately too know if there is still ice up there?

I've heard of people hiking up there to find the grayling that were stocked a few years ago, but I've never heard mention of anyone actually seeing any fish.
I say do it. Tell us if it's really Lake Hardy or Lake Hardly.[

Last I went to upper bells canyon reservoir the dam had sprung a leak and was down about 6 feet. Not much water left in it. Haven't been back since.

I hiked to lake Hardy about 35 years ago....no fish then. There is a plane wreck in the boulder field to the north of the lake. As I recall the plane crashed during WWII.
I would be surprised if any fish could survive in that lake.
Pretty hike and place to visit.

Wait a minute. Are you sure that you are talking about the right mountain/lake? That accident occurred on Mount Timpanogos (the high point above the crash site was called "Bomber Peak")?
March 9th 1955, a B25 carrying 5 on board, cashed on Timpanogos due to bad weather. On the NE side the peak the remains of the plane can still be found today.
Does this look familiar?
The lake south of Bomber Peak is called Emerald Lake......and no there are no fish there.
And to answer your question FFL.......Lake Hardy is famous for winter kill, but those reports are quite dated. Good luck.

My buddies and I would hike up to Lake Hardy every summer when we were in high school. That was about 18 years ago. It's a beautiful hike and there are some great camping spots in the valley down below the lake. We never saw any fish there, but again, that was 18 years ago. Definitely make the hike though. Get access to a map or trail guide, otherwise it can get a little difficult.

There is plane wreakage above lake Hardy as described. As I recall it was a mail plane that crashed during WWII. I did a google search and came up with a blank.
Been to Emerald Lake many times so I know the difference...

That occured in Hogum Fork in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Cool story!
Lake Hardy is in Dry Creek Canyon, which is on the south side of the LCC/Alpine Ridge system.
Wonder how many other plane wrecks there have been up there?
