BR has some nice bass in it, I have never had great day there. I think at one time Crane Creek had the state crappie record, but it is very hit or miss. If you were going to make the trip from your area just for these two reservoir I would save you gas money. Also with the low water year I think CC will get low and be in poor shape for fish. I hope this helps a little Rick

Thank you for your help! I was considering going there the 2nd of June. We will be in Payette for our grandsons Graduation, so I had thought we might go exploring there, always like to try new places. So do you think it would be fishable then since irrigation shouldn't have drawn it down to far?

Michael, Another place to consider is Mann Creek Reservoir which is closer to Payette.

Both will be ok to fish then, but with BR you really need a boat to get to the fish. If you bring your boat I then would fish there. I would really fish one of the better spots around. Mann Creek would also be a good spot if you just want to try something new.

Hi Michael,

It's been quite a few years, 7 or more, since I have fished Crane Creek. If I remember correctly, the only boat launch is on the east side. I never took my boat though, I always just hiked around it, fishing from shore. The road was like a washboard in some sections, going in. I fished around the entire the bank, finding the most productive areas in the middle on the southside. Some areas were dominated by carp and didn't seem to hold any other fish. The two areas I remember being the worst, were on the west side by the dam and on the northeast side where the creek comes in. It would be an excellent spot to bowfish though, if you're into that. Good luck.
