Hal and I were at it again today, but this time it was for keeps. The first (and maybe only Senior crappie tournament) got under way at HBSP around 7:00 with weigh in time of 1:00 PM or in other words, in time for all of our afternoon naps which we all needed by the time all the BS was spread around. emoBigSmile

Congratulations to Hippie97 and his partner Catfish1 (I don't know who was carrying who) on winning the tournament and big fish to boot. Beat my 15" TARP by 0.1 of a pound. 1.75 to 1.65. My fish looked like a razor blade. Female that was completely spawned out. We did find some females that were still spawning, but most are finished, I think.

The winning weight for 7 fish was 8.60. I don't remember our total final weight, but I think just under 7.0 lbs. Hal and I caught about 100 fish. Fish were everywhere we fished, but we just needed to cull 2 more fish to win.

I hammered the fish early with a Mo-Glo Ghastly Minnow on a 1/24 oz head but later had to switch to an Electric Chicken (I know that Candi would be proud to hear this), and we had a limit of fish in less than 15 minutes and the culling began. We never went any significant amount of time without a fish or at least a bite, but the fishing slowed down to a crawl around 11:00. Little fish after 11:00. Must have been recess for the crappie children cause we caught a ton after 11:00.

We are planning on an open tournament on the 6th of June. No age restrictions, so all is invited to come and enjoy the fun. Hippie97 will get out fliers and info soon, so mark your calendar and come fish with us. emoBigSmile emoGeezer
