Derek and I had a very good day today of catching and had some quality to go with it. Derek struck first with a nice 3 and a 1/2 pounder off a point in about 10 foot. It hit a shakey. That pretty much set the pace and style of fishing we did almost the whole day. We stayed from 5 to 20 feet with us catching fish in all those depths. The consistent thing about our fish was almost all of them came off shakeys. Derek struggled on size but he kept the little ones out of my way so I could catch the big ones. Boated two 6 and a halfers, a four and a 3 pound smallie. Those are the five we weighed in to have 23.90 for forth. Did not count our keepers but had about 20 that would have kept. Had that many or more that were short. We both broke off what felt like good fish so we probably could have done better but we heard that from a lot of the guys today. Derek hooked a big one that wanted nothing to do with him, went on a run and broke his line like it was nothing, 12 lb fluorocarbon. :o I broke off one that felt good on the hook set.

We started in about five foot and kept going deeper as the day wore on. That smallie came out of about 20 feet or a little more. We also caught a couple on traps and big worms but the shakey fish is what we weighed in. Second was 23.98, third was 23.91, so our 23.90 for forth needed a little more water in the bag when we weighed in and we might have taken second. emoEvil Second place was my good friend Ben Hayes and his boy Brent, they had a nice sack also. It took just shy of 20 lbs pounds to get paid in this one.

Those bass were all over the map and seemed to be in all stages. Some are still spawning and some have already moved out. Lots of bass eating well today and there were a lot of good limits weighed in. Could have been better but we were very happy to do as well as we did and finally get a check this year in a CBA. emoApplause Jmax
