So I'm heading down to the Green River for Memorial Day weekend (near the town of Green River), and was hoping for any info/tips.

I went down to the same place last year and didn't really know what to expect. I figured there had to be some Cats, so I just threw out some table scraps about 2 feet below a large split shot. I caught quite a few smaller Catfish, but nothing over 2 lbs.

Any info on where around town are some good spots to try. Is there any other fish to catch down there besides Catfish (and any tips and catching them)? Also any tips on finding some bigger cats down there?

One final question for anyone. What's the best rig for Catfishing in a river? I don't bait fish rivers often, unless I'm drifting a worm for trout. Like I said, I was just putting a larger split shot about 2 feet above my bait. It was working, but just curious if there's a better way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will certainly post a report after I come back. Thank you [fishin]

When Amtrak goes by Saturday morning be sure to wave, I'll be on it. Then I'll be on it again Sunday night going west. Hope you do well!

Grand junction Colorado. All I can say is I have only caught a smallmouth bass, bullhead cat, and round tail chub out of the Colorado. I usually catch fish when the river is calmed down, not muddy. It's usually a green color and can usually see a few inches into the water. I caught the fish on a red and white spoon. If its brown and muddy the fish are harder to catch.

Never fished the green but this applies to anywhere with cats:
Use bigger pieces of bait if you want to catch bigger fish. You won't catch as many but it will keep the smaller ones off.
