I just bought a 6'9" medium light abu garcia vendetta rod and I am looking for a new spinning reel to complement it. I fish mostly for trout in the utah mountains, and use mostly 6lb. line, so I am probably looking for something in a 2500 series.I don't want to spend more than $100.00 if I can help it. I mostly have shimano and pflueger reels now. After looking on the internet at what other people around the country suggest, the overwhelming suggestions are shimano symetre 2500fl or the pflueger president. Any suggestions or advice from the utah fishing forum is appreciated. Also, after reading other states fishing forums, utahs forum seems to be one of the best informed.

I love the Pflueger President.

Abu orra would go well with that setup and is a pretty legit setup. My favorite in that price range is pflueger president

I've fished Shimano Saraha's and Sedona's for years and love them. I bought a Pflueger President for my son and he love it. I recently bought a Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier for $70, very smooth and with the large arbor spool casts far with less line coil. So far I really like this one too. Lots of great reels on the market these days. go down to your sport store with your rod and put several on your rod to balance them right and get the one that feels right to you.
I also have a couple Vendetta rods and I think they are awesome!

my favorite reel is the symetre rear drag, had it for a few years and its still really smooth. second choice would be the president.

+1 on the Pflueger President.once you put one in your hand you will know why this reel is quality. I own 3 trions 1 presidential and two bait casters. Best reel for the money in my book.my 2cents.

pflueger president or shimano symetre both are great reels!

+1 on the Pflueger President, I spent about 2 hours looking over all the reels in my price range and I felt it was the smoothest. My next upgrade will be to the Pfluger Patriarch.

There are several Pflueger reels in that price range, and I like all of them. The Arbor is really nice too, it makes long casts and is very smooth. I also recently got the Purist, and am really liking it too. Also the the Templar, Asaro and Medalist have been good to me, and are all around that price. I would check Ebay and Amazon, you can usually find some Pflueger reels for cheap on those sites.

Another vote for the Pflueger President.

I have a president from pflueger and its sits in my garage, I fell in love with the lews SS100 spinning reel and I have a few, but they discontinued them. It has the best drag and smoothest retrieve of any reel I have ever used and it was pretty cheap. I have had them over a year and no issues with durability.

I'm truly surprised at the amount of praise those Pfleugers get. I've got a Supreme that is a grade above the president and I'm gonna throw it in a ditch. Maybe I got a bad one but it's a line fraying, cheap-built, weak POS. One little dip in the water and the bearings start dragging until you can tear it apart and oil and grease it. There is a groove worn into the cheap graphite bail where the line gets off the roller and snags up. Perhaps the Patriarch is better, but the Supreme is JUNK!

Yep [:p]. $100 for a trout spinning reel??? Save some cash and buy a cheap instant anti-reverse reel and use the rest of the money for good line to put on it and still save $40

For less than $100, I'd take the Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris Signature Series Reel. It's $99.99 with free shipping currently. The Johnny Morris Signature Series in anything they have is phenomenal!

+1 for the Arbor. I have two of them lined out with 15 lbs spider wire and these and casting machines. I also like to use a 5' rod though the ice and the larger spool with a smaller body works great in this application too. Great performance like the president with an over sized spool for way less line memory. It's a win win if ya ask me.
