Decided to take my dad out for his first real trip of the summer. We ended up going to Nebo Creek with my girlfriend and mom in tow.

The water along Thistle was low and clear, so we wasted no time driving up the old dirt road to the Forest Service boundary, and in to the first pull out that has served as our starting point for 25 years. Unfortunately my dad is getting on in years, and can no longer rig up as fast as he used to, so I headed down stream to hit a few of the lower holes while he finished putting his wading shoes on. There were plenty of small fish swimming in the beaver dam, but they seemed uninterested on my fist few casts. I moved down and hooked in to a small brown, but he spit the spinner back at me and plopped back in to the cool flowing water and swam away. Not to worry though. A few holes further downstream, and I had another small brown on the line. This one was landed, and set free....but only after I noticed that the batteries in my camera were DOA ( Guess I should have checked that before leaving the house. [Tongue]).

After I felt I had given my old man enough time to get started, I headed back up towards the car to find him. When I found him, he was reeling in a small cutt. Looks like he had also eliminated the skunk. We fished a few holes, and each caught a couple more browns and cutts, nothing big, but they were plentiful.

After walking back to the car, we decided to head further up the road to some nice areas above Page Fork. Same results. Lot's of small browns/cutts, with some larger ones in the deeper holes and beaver ponds.

I love Nebo Creek. It's one of my favorite places to fish. Sure the fish are small, but they are plentiful, and the area always has a plethora of wildflowers. This trip we counted hundreds of penstemon, phlox, sweetpea, and lupine. The water was cool, and the weather was perfect.

I bet it was prettier than the Jordan. I hate it when I have camera issues, especially in unique places!

Glad to hear you are getting out there.
