I was invited to fish a Utah local res. last Wed. after seeing a friends pictures of the Mirror he was catching. I didn't make that trip but I got on my bike and rode the Jordan trail with my gear in the Saddle bags (thank God for 4 piece rods, eh)
I found a new spot and started casting. Caught several Common Carp, but I thought you might like this one

Going with the stripping guide being 36", this Mirror was around 33" I really wanted to feel a difference in the fight and I swear Common fight harder, but maybe not.

Then another first for me. I noticed them feeding off the top. Fresh cut grass. So I tied on a Olive Boobie Fly. I had my Popcorn Ball on the longest part of the leader at about 4' off a 5' Furled leader. I attached an 8" tag about 3' up from the ball and had several suck it in, but me being amazed I missed the take three times, but the forth one was all mine!

Aww gee just for me[blush] nice ones there, I think the commons fight a little harder also, but i.think the commons tire out a little faster. The mirror you got there looks a little thin. But 33 is a beast. I need to go chase some carp again soon I have been slacking. Been chasing cats n bass recently.

Luc, I have an order in for the NFO SUP. Last trip out on stillwater, the Carp were rolling and jumping in a foot of grassy water. With that I will get them[cool]

You will get them and your pontoon may get seriously lonely in the summer.
DO NOT go cheap on the paddle. Seriously. Be prepared to spend 250-350 Once you use one of those you will see why. Kailoa and Quickblade are two great brands. This is probably at the "low" end I would recommend,

I use the Shaka Puu. I have a beautiful Sawyer carbon and wood paddle. Nice paddle for sure but......once you use something light it is all over. My Sawyer is now my rock paddle.
There is a great shop in Park City....maybe near you? All Seasons Eyewear. Right at the base of the town chairlift of all places. Marty there is so knowledgeable and more than willing to share his passion and experience. Worth a visit just to chat with him for sure.
Heading out now to go chase them.

Thanks, but I understand the importance of good oars/paddles, Even on a Pontoon.
