well Saturday did not turn out at all as I expected but it was still fun. I ran up to a place where I had gotten into some nice sized bass earlier this year. When I first caught those bass I was only there for about two hours, so last saturday I was hoping to get to spend all morning pulling them out of the weeds. Well for the first two hours of the day I couldn't find them anywhere. I walk up and down the shore of about everywhere I could publicly fish on that reservoir and only caught one 6" bass. I don't know where they went and I was hitting all the heavy cover. Well then I started walking along the dam and I could see schools of fish cruising around. I thought to myself that I had found the bass. After a bunch of cast with my spin cast and plastic bait and no fish I thought what the heck. I figured I'd just try to catch them bass on my fly-rod. So I got out my fly rod and second cast I landed a rainbow trout, then another, and another. It soon became apparent that the schools of fish were actually trout and not bass at all. In fact I later found out that the F&G had just barely stocked that water with trout. So I caught a whole mess of them (releasing them all back to be caught again another day) just so I could fill worthy to call myself a fisherman again. But it was really easy fly-fishing, I really wish I could've had someone there who wanted to learn how to fly fish, cause it really was like fly-fishing 101. Anyways if anyone wants to catch a mess of planter rainbow trout I can tell you where I was at. If you need some practice on the fly rod right now would it be a great place to go to before all the little kids catch all the fish. There were a couple of people near me that were using worms and powerbait but they didn't catch any, which was surprising to me.
