Well I was going to do Idaho for a free fish day, but didn't get lined up with the crew soon enough, so I decided to stay home and try the cats again... I was lazy and didn't get on the water until a little after7:00 but the cats didn't care and I missed the first hit, and it didn't take long and I got the first one... It was slower today and the wind was a little tough to hold the toon where I wanted it, but I ended up with 3 cats and 2 misses by nine... I had seven yesterday after that much time...anyway since it was slow I tried my small mouth hole, it was a long trek for the toon and I wasn't rewarded for the effort, no nibbles at all in that spot... So after a while I decided I better get home to work, but I trolled back.. Good thing I nailed 3 more cats and a sweet Bear River Tarpon... It was 25" but thick, it weighed 7.5 lbs.. Anyway the tale of the tape, got a 24.5" Cat as the big boy of the day, was sure ugly though..The rest were 19" to 23" and much better looking and dang good fighters... I was sure a couple of them would be big fish they nearly pulled me out of the boat, it was great fun some of the best fights I've had in a long time.... In fact the carp took my hook while I was putting my gear away and the pole was in my toon pole holder and it started to pull my toon away, I had to run and grab the toon and pole... It was a great fight... As far as technique goes, I trolled a carp minnow as slow as I could go, in fact I run "S" turns and most of the hits would come when the line was slack and slow... I was fishing water so shallow I could just verily run my motor, it's really crazy that the fish are there, but they seem to be... Anyway ended up with 7 fish and 2 misses so it was the same as yesterday except it took me until noon instead of 9:30... Later J

So what is happening with the catfish contest this summer? I've seen a few big ones this year, but what are the scores looking like? I know the last two days I've easy beat my score for last year, but where is the breakdown? Thanks J

I second that notion. How about an update?[Image: happy.gif]

Also, nice cats.

Jeff - you keep it up, I think you're going to need to change you user-handle! I'd be curious to know where you bass-hole is (though not in front of the lurkers of course). I've hit a few of my honeys, but haven't nabbed into the Crappie Bass scene yet. I'm sure it's because I haven't tried enough.

Spring kitties are just TOO much fun to pass up. I need to get to dragging some minnows. I do love when your dealing with one hookup, and toss out, or find your other line is off and running. This warm string - I'll be out again this week for sure. Maybe hit the river again this time. Haven't been down below for some time. Overdue.

As for the standings - you gotta just go to the Contest Board. I did post up a graph, and standings. I think I've got a couple entries to add still, but it's a start.
Check your entries, check my standings - shoot me corrections. We've got several entrants that haven't ponied up, so there are still spots open.

I'll confess I haven't tallied the team totals, and need to do that. But I think it's obvious which "team" is in the lead to date, no surprise!!! [:p]
It was a fun weekend. I've always wanted to catch something on the troll at Cutler and now I finally got it working. So I'm pretty happy about that. I had two doubles where I had one fish on one pole and the other took off. It was fun trying to keep those wild fighters on the lines. So do you have any of those carp minnows left in numbers? I got a couple dozen last fall, because I've never really used them much. Now I can see a need for more unless fatheads will work, but they are a little smaller so don't know if they'll work. I did catch one big cat on a night crawler trolled but they seemed to prefer carp.

Don't know what is up with the bass and crappie this year, I haven't caught any. Don't think I've caught a walleye yet either, but the cats are way better than last year for me. I had to go to Willard to get any cats on the board last year.

I didn't find the results on the contest board just the rules. I'll look again and see if I was in the wrong spot. Sure wish I had more time and money so I could fish more.
