I'm Confused a little. I've e-mailed the question to the Id. Fish & Game folks but as usual, no answer. Don't know what their problem is but it's been this way most every time, so ----------. I thought I'd ask here expecting a better response.
I'm aware of no bass until after June 30 and the slot limit of no bass between 12-16 in, with only 2 over 16, and the general rule of none under 12 in. Does this mean, at Weston, I can't keep any under 12 in.? If I can, how many?
Awaiting the bad news. [frown] Sure would like to keep a couple.

As I understand it, the general rule for bass is good EXCEPT when there are special rules for the lake. So at Weston after July 1 you may keep two bass either under 12 inches or over 16. Just none between 12-16.

For example at Glendale they say no bass under 16 inches, rather than stating a slot of 12 to 16. Does that make sense?

I would be interested in what you hear from F&G.

We discussed this a little in 09, and gstott said that he had talk with F&G, and bass under 12 were okay. Hope that it is the same now.

Yeah, you can keep two under 12". I've kept a bunch of 11" fish for tacos there. Also, if you really want to keep some bass, head up to Treasureton. I had my license checked at Weston on Wednesday, and we got talking about the various reservoirs, and he said, if you go to Treasureton, keep all the bass you catch. They want them out. If they don't get the bass under control there they will likely have to poison the lake. They just planted a bunch of cutt hybrids in there last fall, and I really want to see them get big, so I hope this doesn't happen. Smaller bass are plentiful there, and you can catch enough for many a meal.

Any suggestions as to where on the pond at Treasureton?

Right now I would probably try over by the inlet with all the flooded brush. Last September, when I fished it last, the fish were holding along the deep edge of the weed beds near the boat launch. They are seriously everywhere and pretty aggressive since not many people fish for them.

At Weston it's getting tougher to find fish outside of the slot. Most of the fish I've caught this year have been 12-13" with a few up to around 16". They're fun though, my arm was actually sore the next day from catching them.
