I took my son Jacob to SFCR yesterday. Water temp was 60 at start and 65 at the end of the day. We tried trolling and drifting but the unsettled cool weather had them turned off a little. We caught 7 but only kept 3 walleye and a perch. I forgot my camera and didn't get any pictures. I had his little boat behind mine for trolling. It was fun but my favorite spots are about 20 above the water line. Ron

At least you got in to a few. We went a couple weeks ago and couldn't buy a Walleye. The water is quite a bit lower this year than I like it to be but it's always nice to get out there.

We made it down for the marathon 1 day fishing on Saturday. Started in Kuna- got on the water about 7:30a.m. saturday. Shot down the lake, till the wife was too cold to continue. Saw a few boats ( about 12 ) fishing the tournament. Did not really see any of them catching much of anything. i hooked into something deep and never got to see it and it got off but it did not fight like a bass or a trout, and it took it on the drop.
Still i could not catch a walleye to save my life. Lost a couple of trout before they made it to the boat, wife caught a couple of trout. Trolling motor was not working, so that took part of my time to troubleshoot, and will work on it this week. Not much of a fishing story. water way down like Ron said.

I heard that the winning weight for the tourney was 20 pounds for two days. I also heard that the biggest fish was 3.5 pounds. I think Jacobs was close to that. Ron

Braved the herd of tourney fisherman yesterday and launched early at Greys(5:30 am). Pitched Shadraps to the shore and picked up some wallies and bass. Slow trolled plugs and caught more wallies, perch , trout and a whopper crappie.
Not a bad day but not great either, biggest fish only about 18". Bound to pick up soon. Talked to a lot of tourney guys and they all said the same thing-small fish. Biggest of day for Saturday was just over 3lbs.

As of this last weekend the walleye were on a pretty heavy insect bite. We were the ones that won the tourny and it was definatly a spinner bite. Get out over the mud flats around 10-20ft and thats where a majority of the fish were. We caught well over 150 walleye the two days of the tourny but the average size was only 12-14". All we ran was Kokanee Creek Tackle's western walleye series spinners. The hot colors were green/chartruce and brass/black. The bugs they were eating were green in color. Our biggest two fish were 3.54 and 3.40, the rest were 14-20". The fish were short biting so pinching the crawler off behind the second hook was getting more fish. I think I seen you out there, I was in a red and white procraft. Well, off to wyoming in the morning for another tourny, I hope this helps with the catching a little.....[fishin]

Congratulations on the win! Good info and thanks for sharing. I had my friend with me in a little 14 ft. camo boat, usually I am alone with my "fury" friend but she didn't go this time and was pissed at me for leaving her home. Sooner or later the bigger ones will start but we did see some were starting to chew crawdads cause they spit em up when we landed them.

congrats on the tourney.
If i can get my trolling motor issue corrected i may be headed down again on Saturday. i will most likely be in the boat myself since the wife is running the Silver City 50K this weekend.
