In cooperation with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), our partners in the Toyota Texas Bass Classic, the Professional Anglers Association is sharing a TPWD press release and two (2) videos concerning the spread of invasive species. In the south Giant Salvinia is becoming a major issue on our lakes, including many of our favorites like Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn. Zebra Mussels are being found in lakes throughout the country. Eradication efforts for both of these invasive species and more are placing a greater financial burden on our wildlife resources.
PAA President Dave Mansue said, "It is incumbent upon all of us, anglers and boaters alike, to follow the simple practice of 'Clean, Drain and Dry.' These three simple steps will minimize the spread of invasive species and keep our waterways open. As professional anglers, we visit many more lakes throughout the country increasing our opportunity to spread these unwanted species. It's important that we lead the way and help our wildlife resource agencies spread the word on the practices of "Clean, Drain and Dry." I encourage everyone to read this information and watch these videos."
