Got out after work today with Rsimms. It had been almost 7 years since we last fished in the same boat, although we see each other about every other weekend on the water at the Riverpark. I got on the water about 30 minutes before Richard showed up and hit one dock for crappie. Boated 20 with 10 keepers, biggest being around 12 inches. Swung by and picked up Richard and off we went. We fished a few docks and deep water banks, mostly just riding around with the side image looking for cool stuff to fish. We fished some of the areas I did well on last week and the crappie were still there in numbers.
We ended the day after 3.5 hours of fishing with 80 crappie in the boat with around 30-35 keepers (maybe more, I lost count around 20), 5 bluegill and a channel cat. Water temps are getting close to 80 on the main river. While fishing we got to see an airplane do a loop with smoke. I got a pick too late but you can still see the smoke ring. Pretty cool. Wind blew about 15 mph most of the evening and the boat traffic was heavy, the crappie did not seem to mind.
Most fish came on 1/32 lead with anything with chartuse on it. Richard used a 1/16 for a while and caught fish on it as well. Most fish were about 5-10 feet down over deeper water.
Good times.
