I am heading up for the first time in 15 years! I bought a fly rod a few years ago, haven't used it yet. I figure if I can't catch a fish up there on it I might as well give it up (LOL). I plan on bringing my spinning rod as a back up for the old fly behind the bubble and spinners/lures routine.
Planning on starting at Butterfly with my daughter and her husband and friends. Then Bud lake just down the road and maybe if time allows Cliff and/or Wall lake. Any recent info on the above lakes or other suggestions would be appreciated.

ps: Is a blood knot the best way to tie leader on to the fly line?

You want to use a nail knot. Cabelas has a tool that helps tie the knot.

I like a loop to loop easier to change leaders.

If Butterfly is too crowded try Castle. There's some bigguns in there [Smile]

Just got back yesterday - had our best luck on black buggers. Caught a few on hoppers, mosquitos, and spinners. Make sure you take plenty of mosquito dope so you don't get eaten down to your bones.

Good Luck.
