Not many TM's in Johnson or Lamont. I'd suggest going another 20min to newton if you really want a descent chance at one.

Newton is a little bit further than 20 minutes from Johnson. Maybe more like 40 minutes. [

The hard part with Johnson is water quality. By this time of year, the water level is dropping leaving most cover out of the water. Further, Johnson is a large surface area, shallow reservoir. Combine that with dropping water levels and a touch of wind, and you end up with a chocolate reservoir. It's dang hard to find those TM's in there when the visibility gets bad. You have to land your lure on the TM's nose!

Anybody have info on plantings in Johnson? I fish pineview, have been chasing the state record for too many years, and mix it up at newton with friends, family and fun.
Have seen the newton fish length exceed 40 in the past year or so, wondering where Johnson is in the mix.
Thanks.

It ranks right with Newton and Pineview.
attached picture is from 2010.
They've been stocked in Johnson for over 15 years, with the exception of a few years when the TM program wasn't stocking fish in Utah at all.
They've also found TM's over 40 inches in Fish Lake. Those fish are coming from Johnson, which is downstream from Fish Lake.

Perch, suckers, chubs, carp....it's kind of the catch-all cesspool of trash fish from Fish Lake. Thus, tiger musky stocking...
those tm's don't have to search for food. They just lay there with their mouths open. When they get full, they just close their mouths.
