I've never done that, but I hear the walleye fishing in the John Day and Dalles Pools can be great!
Always looking for new adventures before I get too old to do them.

Went last year caught several kings biggest was 30lbs. Well worth the trip. There were lots of boats at Buoy 10 so you could always see someone fighting a fish. I have been using flashers similiar to ones our guide was using on the trip here in UT and they work great on Starvy steelheads. Thought about maybe trying herring plugs for browns but haven't got around to it. Always something new to learn.
Planning a late Sept trip this year for coho or walleye just haven't decided yet.

Late August fishing on the Columbia is a great combination. Reports say the returns of Silvers and Kings should be close to record numbers. I hope to make it out there this year. That time of year the tuna can be fairly close to the coast as well. Maybe worth checking out. Joe Salvey runs a good guide service in the area.
I hope you have a great trip. Make sure to give us a report.

[#502800]Buoy 10 is fun. We caught both Silvers and Kings the last time we went out of Astoria. Watch Out for the Sea Lions. There are large groups of them just waiting for you to hook up. So if you reel back in with just a fish head, you know what happened. [/#502800]
[#502800]We will probably pass you on the way, as we will be coming back from Albie fishing at Garibaldi. We decided to try that this year, plus a little bottom fishing and some crabbing.[/#502800]
