Full Version: Tried out a new bug today

This isn't technically a fly fishing report but....

I was doing some bass fishing today with my spinning gear and wasn't having and luck. I was kicking myself for not bringing my fly rod because there plies of carp feeding along the shoreline... Rooting around so shallow backs were out of the water.. Lightbulb!!!! I flipped over some rocks and found I little beetle. Stuck it on my hook weightless and dangled it right in front of its nose and... Slurp. Carp on. Now thats fly fishing haha!

@cpierce... Yeah I guess it was "beetle fishing"[Wink] it was one of those..I guess people call them potato bugs or whatever. Small, gray kinda looks like a sowbug?? Ill hopefully be back there tomorrow catching them on" real" fake bugs.

Maybe it was more of a french fry potato bug than sow bug . If so this pattern should work well ;
