Hi All,

Traveling to Southwest Idaho first of August. We'll be staying near Garden Valley and plan on visiting McCall and the surrounding areas.

I've never fly fished any of those areas. I'm looking for feedback on easily accessible streams and rivers and possibly lakes/ponds.

Any feedback and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

If you have time, come a little further south and fish the South Fork of the Boise below Anderson Ranch. It gets pounded by boats throwing foam flies at the banks, but it can be very satisfying to find a good stretch to wade and look for noses poking up and sipping during some of the prolific hatches. Pink alberts should be happening, but if you hit a caddis hatch right, pray that you tied your knots well. There are some surprisingly huge, energetic fish that come out to play during caddis activity. If for some reason you can't find any noses poking up, tie on a large black, rubber-legged stone nymph and hit the usual spots.
