Anybody been out to Lake Lowell lately? Is the water pretty shallow now and out of the smartweed?

I just drove over the lower dam this evening. I saw exposed mud flats near the canal gates, and the water appeared to be just short of the weed beds on the south shore.

Readers should be aware that a couple of the boat ramps will probably close in a week or so, according to this chart.

Man what a shame. I was planning on frogging the pads and pitching senkos at Lowell on Aug 21st. Looks like it will be way low by then. Any recommendations on a new fishing hole to try for bass? I'm thinking Walcott? I will also be fishing CJ and Anderson that week.

Lowell is canal water, as long as their farming there will be water. Unless the Feds kick us all out. Had a buddy bragging the frog bite yesterday. Go to Walcott this week Chris, I'll give you an update.

The boat ramp at the upper dam park will be open, the others will probably close in a week or so. They pull out the docks and block the ramps. This happens every year, but usually in August. The fact that the lake is fed by the New York canal doesn't mean that there will water covering the boat ramps.

I've lived on the lake for 55 years and have seldom seen boat ramp access last through a full summer at the Lower Dam. I was just trying to give a warning that some of the ramps will soon be closed. The ramp at access 1 (Akies) has been closed for a month or more, and beavers have even dammed up the channel.
