I broke Day 3 out because it was more of a scouting for the next great trip, rather than a lot of fishing time, like the other days... But in case you are interested in a neat spot read on...
We took off at 8:00 AM with 5 out of 12 in the party, the rest stayed behind to fish more in the local lakes.. and recover from the previous two days of hiking over 6 miles a day.. We headed up canyon past Cathedral lake and vered to the right across a boulder field to the gateway to our journey...

This canyon was so cool, and rough and gnarly it was great, a little tough on someone close to 50, but I lived through it..

One of the first tough spots was climbing the waterfall which was the only way through this spot that wasn't verticle...

Then we hit the rock hop section, which was pretty fun at first, but before long it started to go rough on me... We had to gain about 1400 vert through this section and it wasn't easy...

After making it through this section we came to the glacier in the top of the canyon... Unfortunately my shoes were terrible for traction and this section nearly killed me in more than one way... I was so tired by the time I made the top I was ready to quit and go back but my scout wanted to go on, so I did...

We had agreed ahead of time if we didn't make the top of the ridge by 12:30 we would turn around... We made it by 12:15 so we press on down the other side...

We had wanted to see Valentine Lake, a beautiful little spot, but due to the distance and tough trail, we ended up getting there in time to hide under a rock while it rained, then turned around and headed back...

As we started back down the other side we ran into lots of fun spots like crossing crevices to get onto the glacier, there was about 6" of snow and ice bridging our path onto the glacier, with about 35 feet drop below... I was a little puckered...

It started raining again as we foot skied down the glacier, which didn't work very well for me... I ski okay, but with my terrible shoes this didn't work well for me at all, I was the sissy on this passage... At the bottom we hid under a rock until the rain let up...

Then it was back across the rock field where we found some company.... About 12 Big Horn Sheep came to laugh at us....

Well from there we went down through the bear country in the bottoms, where we seen tracks, but the bear didn't show up until the next day, when three of them ran into us... We did see a bull moose and some pika on the top of the high country plus lots of antelope... Great trip, but I was dead tired that night when we made it back to camp about 7:00 ish... Next trip we will take gear to camp so we can fish for the golden trout in Valentine Lake... I think I'll take the Bears Ears Trail into that area too, this route may be more than I can make with more years on this body... Anyway not much fishing this day, but great country with fishing potential... Later J

Looks like an awesome trip! Where is this place located?

This is straight west of Lander, Wyoming. You need to go up to about Ft Washakee to catch the road that goes to Dickinson Park trailhead. It was about 18 miles of dirt roads that took about an hour to get to the trailhead. Then we took about 6 hours to hike in with two sick boys. We hiked out in about 2 hours and 40 minutes. Later J
