The lake is dropping fast . By this weekend I don't think you will be able to launch anywhere but Buttermilk or the Dam . I am headed back up soon and will post on the fishing . Curt G.

The rivers have been high most of the summer this year. It looks like they will turn IP and Pali

es into mud holes.

Word while i was back last week was that IP is going to empty this year.

Thanks for the heads up. I have never fished there before, but will be heading over to IP for four days next week, to attend a family vacation. I hate to hear that the fishery is going to suffer. I was thinking about fishing both Island Park and Henry's. It sounds like my time would be best spent taking the boat to Henry's now. I appreciate the info.

No matter how far they draw it down it won't hurt the fishery . There is a constant flow from Big Springs going into the lake , If they have to they will all move into the old river channel . When the lake gets down to about 17 percecnt . It is almost impossible to launch a boat . The lower it gets , the better the fishing will get . If you are running the lake in a boat , STAY IN THE MIDDLE . There are a lot of sand bars coming out from both sides . Last weekend I helped load a boat that tore one blade off his prop . Curt G.

If you like to eat fish , Catch them in Island Park Res . The fish at Henry's are mossy .

Hi Curt, I appreciate the information you have given me about Island Park. I was curious if you wouldn't mind sharing a little more info please.
I will be over there a week from now, do you have an idea if there will be any docks still in the water? I ask because I use a wheelchair and need a dock available, in order to get into my boat. I also don't really have any experience trolling or have any gear, just a couple dodgers with wedding rings. I mainly plan on bait fishing. Do you think it would be more productive at Island Park instead of Henry's? There will be about 12 kids under the age of 14. I'm mainly looking to get them to catch fish.
Thanks again,
Josh

Curt is dead on that the fish won't suffer. What will be seen is a lot of bigger fish that usually don't move out of the res. moving into the river and being more likely to be caught. I know a couple folks that are drooling at the chance of it getting drawn down since it puts a lot of fish into the river.

WOW! 12 kids under 14!!!! You are Superman![laugh]
I would think Henry's is very mossy right now which could be more trouble than you want, but it has been over a months since I was there.
How about it Curt?

I have not been over to Henry's since July 4 . The fish were already starting to get mossy then so I have not been back .

The fishing was slow today .The wind has been bad the last two days and has the lake messed up . Landed 10 kept 3 .

Fishing was a lot better today . 20 fish in 2 hours. Fishing in 10 feet of water.
