Fished Strawberry on Friday and Saturday. Beautiful calm conditions in the morning which changed immediately each day around 11am with winds from the south. In the mornings we watched very large schools of chub swimming past the boat. The first fish was caught within minutes after launching just south of the marina by dropping a tube jig down to the fish we saw on the finder at 35'. It is great to get that first fish out of the way and it was the kid who caught the first one. After I got the trolling gear set-up we trolled east of the marina and ran into large schools of chub at the surface. We caught mostly cutts, 4 bows that went into the cooler, 2 kokes, and 2 chub on Friday. The two kokes were both caught by my son, the first one was return due to size, the second one was 14".

Saturday we went back to the same areas we fished on Friday. We had our first double up on kokes, the 16.5" was a keeper the little one went back. Two more bows and two chubs again. The rest were cutts. Two day total was 56 fish with more than half being caught by my son making it that much better.

The good fish we found are hanging in 35' to 45' range in 75' of water.
Nice report Talyn, sounds like you guys had some good days on the pond. If you don't mind me asking, what did you catch the kokes on?

My son caught three on pop gear and worm which was a surprise. My only one was on a sling blade dodger with a mack's kokanee killer.
That is funny because kokes aren't suppose to eat worms but I had the exact thing happen a number of years ago when fishing at Moon lake. I was trolling with a wedding ring and worm and caught a koke[crazy]. I think it is the flash, not the bait but who knows. Were you using any bait or scent on the mack's kokanee killer?

it's not unusual at all to catch kokes on pop gear and a worm it is a very affective combo. I have a friend who only uses that and catches many koke regularly. as long as you get your stuff in there face they get mad and hit it. it's a drag to fight fish on pop gear though. nice report[fishin]

I was putting a very short piece of worm on, about 1/2 inch. Not even sure if it helped but I wanted just a little taste on the hook.
Nice upate and pics. Thanks

I use to catch quite a few Kokes on popgear and worm years ago. More bows of course but always caught a few Kokes as well.

That was exactly the way it was for my son. Did you use any weight on the line to get the pop gear down?
