Haven't read a word lately and I'm thinking of hitting the stretch just below Jordanelle tomorrow morning. Anyone else been there recently? What patterns worked?

I was up that way last week. It was a rough day. I saw a few caddis and pmd but not much bug action. I threw nymphs for a bit and had nothing. Picked up a couple on pmd dries and one on an olive sculpin streamer. But a pretty slow day all around. The weber has been much more generous to me as if late. From what I hear the lower Provo is fishing much better if you can handle all the tubers, personally I stear clear.

2 weeks ago I fished above deer creek a few miles and only caught one 13" rainbow with one of my woolly bugger but that's it. It's been pretty slow. Next time I will be up there would be fall or mid/late winter when they start spawning.

I wasn't going to comment but you have reports from a week ago and two weeks ago, so why not three weeks ago? I caught 1 on a foam hopper with no hits on nymphs or dries. I also had three more hits on the hopper before I left. 1 fish for about 4 hours is slow but better than nothing.

Last couple of weeks have been really good. If there aren't any fish up top to speak of, we've been doing really well with them on nymphs. Caddis in the evenings on top pretty consistently. If you want some bigger fish, throw some big streamers.

Well, here's my report:
I fished the first access point from the dam and took my new 3-wt and my new 5-wt, hoping to break them in properly. Did - but not fabulously.
I had the 5-wt set up for nymphs and caught three browns in the morning, when the bite abruptly turned off. In between those, I threw some dries on the 3-wt and managed to land two more - all cookie cutter 10-inch browns. Had lunch at 1 and then went back out again.
Nymphs were apparently off the menu in the afternoon, and the fish would rise for ten minutes on dries and then go to sleep again for an hour. Frustrating, let me tell you. Finally connected with a nice almost 15-incher on a #14 Adams. Kept that one for the table and was surprised to find a second fly in her mouth besides mine.
The successful flies were bead pheasant tail and hare's ear nymphs and small renegade and Adams dries. All classic patterns. Go figure, huh?
I had watched black clouds build and said to myself "Last cast" when thunder rumbled overhead. Last cast for darn sure.
She was delicious, btw. Baked her at 350 for 25 minutes stuffed with lemons and dotted with butter. It really doesn't get much better.

Ouch! That's a bad hour in the summer let alone a day. Have you considered golf? Either that get out, explore and find a few close by streams that are far more productive this time of year.

Good to hear you got into some fish, looking to head up Saturday or Sunday haven't hit the water in about 3 weeks jonesing for any water with fish in it. Isnt it time for Hoppers.... Did you see hoppers bouncing around ?

Remember Saturday is the BIG Heber Valley Fly Fishing Fest.

riverdog, I already play golf!
I did see hoppers in the grass, but not a one on the water.
It was a slow day, for sure, but a day fishing is a good day, is it not? I got my line tugged, I saw some interesting birds, I watched thunderstorms build, I got to try a new MRE meal, and I got a delicious supper out of it. What's to bemoan?

Just kidding you[
]. But surprised you chose to go after the generally awful reports.

I asked too late - didn't see the replies to my post until afterward. Besides, there aren't any good reports from anywhere nearby.

Yes most are usually quite about where the fishing is good as this is the internet. PM's work better.

Fished it last night around Midway... did pretty well swinging soft hackles in the riffles. Lots of small browns with a few busters (15-17 inches) after sundown.
Surface feeders when we arrived (~6:30p) and I had a few swipes at a #16 caddis emerger... put weight on one, the rest were probably last second refusals.
Water was up a little bit (260 CFS) from previous trips, but still very clear and manageable.
Tight lines!
