I have never been there, does anyone have some info on the camp grounds. Like do you have to make a reservation, or are there first comes.

It is one of the more beautiful campgrounds around.

Pretty sure there's both reserve spots and first come first serve. The first come first serve spots are closer to the water than the reserve spots and are close to the flush toilet restrooms. All in nice pines too.

Thanks guys. I will try just heading up there Friday morning and take a chance. Looks like rain for Sat. and Sun. could make for some killer fishing.

Its a mix of both primitive & reserved campsites the primitive campsites (no reservation ) start along Current Creek Rd, as soon as you turn off of Hwy40 from the gas station maybe quarter mile down the dirt road (current creek rd) you'll start to see camping spots on your left hand side. Its pretty cool most of the spots there parallel the river.
There's camp spots up until your hit the Big Horn ranch. From there the road is paved and I don't recall any campspots until the road turns into a dirt again then youll hit the dam.
After the dam and maybe a few miles the road will fork into a 3 road path if you take the immediate left you start heading toward the spillway great fishing there and easy place to launch a toon. Theres an open space there ive seen people camp there but not sure if its an actual camp spot. If you take the middle youll start heading up toward the the boat ramp that's were the reserved camp spots are.
And if you take the right youll start heading toward Strawberry Ladders more primitive camp spots there no reservation needed.
Theres also a road from the ladders that will shave about 20 minutes off your drive but I don't recommend if your towing a 5th wheel or a boat kinda narrow in some spots but Ive also seen big RV make it through there so... I cant remember what ext it is ill see if I cant find a pic

Due to the dact we are towing the trailer up without water, we will need water when we get there, so I would like the Camp Grounds. But, most places have the preservable and the first comes. I am hoping CC is the same

I don't see why not Ive never camped in the reserved area but im sure if there open spots you just got to pay your fee and its yours.
If not head toward the ladders on the pic theirs camp spots there its only a 10 minute drive to the boat ramp im sure you can get water there I think...

Looks like they have at lease 28 first come first served sites. Most are in the equestrian section. So my guess is you may just find one you like.[cool]

Currant Creek has some of the nicest developed campgrounds I've been to in Utah.
AND, it's one of the few places that doesn't take a lot of convincing of the wife to go to, because they have flush toilets and running water in the restrooms. Plus there are water spigots close to every camp area.
The campgrounds are a little pricier than others I've been to though. I don't remember the exact price, but it seems like it was just under $20 a day.
I prefer to camp a little further away from the water, just to get away from the crowds. The lower loops always seem to fill up first. And I always see a few scout troops up there - I try and give them a wide berth just because of the noise.
I went up there in July of last summer - the online reservation system showed that there weren't many spots available. I decided to try my luck anyway and when I got up there, there were TONS of spots available. I pretty much had the entire upper loop to myself.
Man, this makes me want to take a trip up there. Aren't many places prettier during the fall.

Thanks. We will find out more tomorrow.

If you do not get a site at the official Currant Creek Campground........1 mile below the dam is some of the best free camping in Utah. Right next to a river, tall trees, grassy flats.....and best of all FREE! Enjoy your trip.

I would like to camp there, but as I said, we make the trip without water. If there is a place to get water without going in the Camp Grounds we would do that. I just feel if we use the CG water we should stay. Soldier Creek is $18.00 a night so use to that.

Well, what was your impression of the Currant Creek camp ground.
[signature]
Yes I would like to know that too. Then maybe plan a trip this fall or next spring.

Nice to get out of the city[laugh] Sort of. Well I was in a new place frame of mind, so we went. OMG! You have to go 31 miles out of your way and around the lake to get there. The road in the camp grounds had large holes everywhere, the camp sites are small in Loop A which would have been first choice as closer to the water. Plus the trailer pads are unlevel as heck. Not enough dumpsters for trash considering there is bear warnings all over.
Lack of trees in our site to make any shade and it was warm up there (till the thunderstorm). We were in Loop B and a bit of a drive to the lake every day.
Campers right next to us had four tents, four adults and about 15 screaming, crying kids.
It was nice[

] Caught a lot of Tigers and some strong as heck cutts. Camped with a good friend and my Best friends (Hubby and Baxter) so that was good.
Will I go back? MAYBE for a day but only when they open the road from Heber or the one from Ladder back up,
To me, the camp site that is a slice of heaven would be Mirror Lake or Mack's Inn RV. Tons of trees and shade. Can be hurricane winds, but you don't feel it[

]
Ended up at Soldier Creek Sunday for an over night and tons of Rainbows!
This is just my take. It was worth trying for sure.

Good to know. I've thought about camping up there a couple of times but it is a long drive. Mirror Lake was windy and crowded (last weekend before back-to-school) but Suz got in 2 hours of active dry fly fishing in the afternoon.
