We will be staying at Riverside campground for 5 days. We would like to do some fishing. How is the fishing there? Flies, bait, spinners what works? Thanks in advance

Riverside is a pretty campground. I grew up on the stretch of water above the cg, just below the lower Harriman Ranch.
Section: From Highway 20 bridge upstream to the posted
boundary upstream of Riverside Campground
• Trout limit is 2, none under 16 inches, no
harvest of cutthroat trout.
Section: From the posted boundary upstream of the Riverside
Campground upstream to the lower Harriman State Park boundary
• December 1 through Friday before Memorial
Day weekend – closed to fishing
• Saturday of Memorial Day weekend through
November 30 – trout limit is 0, catch-andrelease,
no bait allowed, barbless hooks required.
There is some great fly fishing waters in that area if you can match the hatch exactly. If not it can be a long day. You don't want to camp in this area with children unless you plan on keeping a constant eye on them. The water below the cg is rough and leads to going over Mesa Falls.

If you feel like taking a hike, follow the path to the bottom of Mesa Falls. There are some awesome holes below the falls that I have pulled some huge fish out of. Just use garden hackle. Not a lot of people make the big hike down into the bottom and I don't think it gets fished often. Even with it being the dog days of summer, the water gets plenty of oxygen coming off falls and the fish are pretty feisty right there.
