I use both, but they each serve a different purpose in my mind. The Whiting schlappen is good for making long tails for big flies, but not very ideal for wrapping around a hook shank because the stems are really thick. I have settled on Spirit River schlappen and have been very happy with it. It doesn't look like there is very much in a package, but there are a LOT of feathers in those packs. They are all fairly consistent and worthy of wrapping around the shank. They also make the UV2 dyed schlappen that is really good too.
