I fished Trude's Bay yesterday with little success,s but had a very interesting experience. I had just pulled anchor and was leaving when a grizzly sow and two cubs came down to the waters edge just 50-75 yards from my boat. I've spent many summers in Island Park but this was the first grizzly I've seen outside of Yellowstone NP. Just another day in paradise. I did manage a few fish trolling around Bill's Island.

That is roughly the same area as the reported attack last week. They reported it as being in the shotgun area but the marker on the map they showed on the news put it closer to that area just off Old Shotgun road.

I have had numerous people come into work with bear sightings this year. Alot more than usual. I will be carrying a sidearm this year for sure up there.

Save some hogs for me. I will be coming up Thursday some time in the afternoon but the chick with the boat has to work until midnight so she is going to come up first thing Friday. Hopefully she gets there early enough to go out before the wind picks up.

Where are you camping . If you launch at Buttermilk you have to use the rough ramp . The smooth one drops off before your boat comes off the trailer .

I think we are going to camp at Mill Creek and then drive around to Buttermilk and launch each day. Thanks for the heads up about the ramp. We thought about camping at Buttermilk but decided not to, going to have 3 trailers and didn't want to have to rent 2 spots.

Buttermilk Milk ramp is done for bigger boats . Dropped off the end of the ramp launching . Fishing was slow caught 6 fish . Talked to the sheriff at the ramp , he said they are going to drop the lake down to the old river channel . I don't know where he is getting his information .

That was the word back in July when I was home. Water rights down stream are going to dictate it.

If they do drain it. The ice fishing should be very good this year . A lot of fish in a very small area .

Missed you out there today Curt. We got out to Trude's about 11 and parked in the same vicinity as yesterday and caught 9, all but 1 was 2lbs+. Man it was hot and no breeze.
