I am going to try and hit SARL this Sunday and I am trying to figure out what works. I know there's 20 different powerbaits and crave baits but is there one or two in particular that have worked for you?[unimpressed]
Or maybe a jig or something? I sure would appreciate the help[

According to the reports from SARL it looks like crave nitro dough baits have been working the best and after that they say that lures and jigs coated with the crave nitro gravy have also proven to be very effective. I hope that helps you.[cool]

Something I have heard that works all the time is using light line, like 2-4lbs for fishing that lake.
Only issue is if you get a 15lbs+fish you will be at it for awhile![shocked]
My friend went out there using like 3-4lbs and was getting trout left and right using Nitro Grease or something like that.
I heard alot of those Crave bait products work well. I may try one or two of those.

for bigger trout i like useing a sinking 3/16 oz rapala

Hey there releaseit, the 2-4lb line is always a must with the rainbows. Even the dumb planters know that if they can see the line, then to stay away from it. Try some of your favorite ultra clear and strong line. I usually use ironsilk or the Trilene xt. Both of them are strong and virtually invisible. [cool]

Hello Guys,
I went on oppening day and it was Orange powerbait that both the guy to the right and left of me were slayin'em on.
I was getting shut out on the crave. After one of my fishing nieghbors gave me some of the powerbait I caught a lightinin and 2 rainbows. They were saying that and the blue powerbait usually get it everytime.
I also agree straight 2 pound all the way. Yes you have to loosten the drag a bit but it is usaully worth the delay when bringing in the fish to get bit more often.

Ok, thanks for the input. I am trying for this Sunday to go in AM. So I will get blue and orange powerbait and maybe some shrimp for wandering catfish[

My friends nick named me " The Crane " because I use heavy line then just tow them in. I do not know if I have the touch to land a heavy fish on light test[unsure] But I will try![sly]
What's a good hook size too?
[signature]
If you are going to use powerbait and expect it to float, then I would go with a #16 hook for using with the powerbait plunger or #14 if you plan on making a ball the size of a large gumball.
I have generally use a #16 treble hook with about 1/4 oz split shot anywhere from 12 to 18 inches from the hook. It all depends on where you are fishing and the water temp as well as outside temperature.
If the fish are biting closer the top, then I would go with a #12 treble and normal size ball of powerbait and drop it 18 to 24 inches from a bobber. The bigger hook and smaller size doughball will cause it to sink.

Appreciate it.[

] Like I said I don't have much luck with trout[unsure]

Most of the time it is hard to miss with planters. The rest of the time you could just bring the wrong bait and wonder how the rest of them get so lucky.[crazy]

I think I always used to heavy line or set-up. I always have used powerbait in past or even powerworms. Just wrong color I guess.[unsure]
It's weird I was going after trout and getting catfish! That when I really knew something was wrong![crazy]

I accidently caught a catfish on Green Power Bait once. It was the most surprising moment. But then again the Catfish was just planted a couple of weeks prior. I didn't keep the catfish but had fun with it on 2lb test. The cat was only about 2 or 3 lbs.

skullpin is an excellent bait for trout

Well it was friggin raining so no fishing for me[unsure] During summer months when we get alittle drizzle or light rain no biggie but during the winter forget that~[

I have been very lucky ( praise to god ) not getting this nasty flu going around. Doctors and even CDC ( Center for Disease Control ) said this will be the worst flu season in like 30 years.
The USA already has had several hundred reported deaths due to complications caused by flu[crazy][unsure]

I got my flu shot today. Fire Dept just made it mandatory. I guess that is better since there is so much contact with the general public.
[signature]
wow I did not think that there was that much contact between general pub. and fire department..
but when I refferance my days as a park ranger, and had to have my pet-a-gree shots it reminds me that if one person comes incontact with any person on the streed we all have come in contact with the same person.
there were about 230 of us in the same camp... makes lots of sence to have the shots.
mi is crying now they dont have enough shots available. I dont fall in to the risk catigory so I will be ok even if I get the bug.....
[signature]
They may not have alot of contact but when they do it's usually right in there face. Espcially the EMT(s)![shocked]

You better believe it. We are required to have flu shots yearly, Hepatitis A-B-C completed(good for life) TB test yearly. I have no problem with that it is only the eye test and blood test that I forget to study for sometimes.[laugh]
[signature]
ya I think I do remember having to go through all them test when I was a park ranger.
it has been about twenty years. I should have realized that every thing would bave become more complicated with the over poupulaton of our environment. reminds me of chicken farming. the more chicken we had the more often we had to have them tested for helth perpouses.
makes a lot of sense now the topic is brought up. I see that michigan was running short on flu shots this year, I herd already a dozen unfortunares have already perished from the flu.. news reports.
but to be honest, I wonder how many of them werent west nile virous. what I mean is that I am sure that people contract it from the summer and carry the virous through the summer in to the fall only to fall to its effects in fall and early winter in the form of a flue?
this is actulay mother natures natural cource. of handling populations of its creatures here on earth.
just food for thought.

There is a major shortage all across the board for the new flu vaccine. The County of Los Angeles has made sure that all of its health care providers at all level are taken care of first to ensure that there will be someone around to provide care to it's citizens.
Next in line are the elderly and cancer patients as well as younger children. The public service announcement said that this was a stronger strain of the flu virus and they expected more deaths as a result of this new flu type.
I am glad to know that I will be around awhile longer to be able to serve our vast community and take care of their needs.
