My buddy Micheal has never done much fishing so when I had taken him a few weeks ago an he caught a bunch of whites and skipjacks, he was pretty hooked. He still wanted to catch some big cats and we set out this morning to achieve that.

We hit the river just after daylight and soaked some skipjack and a golden shiner I netted near the ramp. Our only two bites cam from the first of six anchor locations an yielded a 12lb and a nice 33lb blue, the smaller of the two ate the golden shiner. We were fishing a ditch adjacent to the main channel that seems to always have at least one fish in it. It got hot by one and we called it a day, but putting a newbie on a good cat is always fun.
