Ty and I have been fishing pretty much all week in search for catfish. We had no success earlier in the week on Nickajack lake, so we decided to go below Nickajack Dam and specifically hunt for the flatheads. Ty rounded up the bait for us and put 23 live bluegill in the boat. Before I arrived at the boat ramp, Ty had managed 2 flatheads already, so I knew we were going to have a good evening bite. emoBig

Between 6-8pm we had landed several flatheads between 8-13 lbs. We were having a blast catching them. But then right before dusk, we snagged into a giant monster. We had a big bluegill on the hook and we knew immediatlely it was something HUGE! The drag was spilling out and it literally took over 20 minutes to get this big boy in the boat. We finally got him in the boat and the fish measured 44" and right on 44 lbs. Second biggest flathead and fish I ever caught! What a fight!!! emoBig

Immediately following that, Ty hooked into a 28 lber that measured 40". The biggest totals for the day were 7 lbs, 9 lbs, 12 lbs, 17 lbs, 28 lbs, and 44 lbs. I think we caught a total of 13 flatheads. 3 of the 13 were TARPs. emoDance

It was a great evening to be out on the water.

You can see the 44 lber here at http://youtu.be/xZQxDZwGhuo
