Hey guys -

I'm looking for some help. I've heard that there is some decent smallmouth fishing on the Snake River. I've never explored the Snake as I've only lived in Idaho for about a year. Would anyone be willing to P/M me some good shore/wader fishing areas for smallies on the Snake within an hour or so of Boise? I have a buddy flying out here from back home (South Dakota) on Friday to watch the BSU game. We have all weekend to do some fishing and he loves bass fishing. I'm not looking for anyone's secret spots, just good places to start. [Smile]

Thanks in advance,
Andy

I'd head out to Swan Falls .... go to Kuna, then take Swan Falls road to the end. When you get down off the cliff, take dirt road that goes downstream. I think that road goes about 4 miles. Many easy access points to the water.

For better fishing (less pressure) there is a trail that continues downstream at the end of the road, but you have to walk. Great smallie fishing all along there.

Please be careful if you wade ... The Snake is a dangerous river. No problem I think if you wade with tennis shoes and shorts, but I wouldn't wear waders ... some nasty currents and deep holes ... although the river has been low.

Folks do well with panther martins or other spinners. I like to take a Senko worm with a pretty large split shot about 2-3 feet up and drift that.

Moss can be a problem.

Or you can do the trip backwards and go to Celebration Park and work either up or downstream. Good access in spots there too. You can Google Celebration park. There is a bridge there to cross river if you like.

Good luck.

You definitly have to hit up Swan Falls. I did really well their both in the spring and summer. Right now they are blowing up on topwaters.

Check out my post on my blog about it to help you catch some smallmouth bass!

Good luck! Take some pics of the beauties you'll catch for me!

Here is my more recent trip report. The place is on fire. Last time we caught all our fish on topwaters.

Check out what I used, and where I went: http://www.krakenbass.com/summertime-swa...als-stoke/

Curious to know how you do. Good luck!
