Sam and I made the time to go see if we could kill two birds with one stone, and get bait while possibly wrangling up a flatty or two in a spot that works well for me. Current really was pounding, which I figured was going to slow down the flatheads. Shad were running thick, and even was able to get half a dozen or so with my little dip net. Sam threw a shad out there in hopes of a striper, but instead about got spooled by a flathead that ran for cover and broke him off. That was fun to watch Sams face during that. He was using 8lb line, so its hard telling how big it might have been.
The skipjack bite was slow, possibly due to approaching storm, but managed about 8 nice ones for his freezer. Also got a few small stripers.
We did end with 6 flatheads, including a nice 20 or so lber. And yes, Sam can blitz to a rod very quickly! emoEek On two occasions we both were holding the rod before he won and I gave it up! emoAngel
We did manage a first in my boat, and doubled on flatheads! And it is awesome getting good photos for a change!
Thanks Sam for a great time!
