I got to tag along with Guide Jake Davis (www.midsouthbassguide.com) and one of his regular clients, Greg Howell on Sunday. We were specifically targeting bass in the grass on Spro Frogs.

The cool front passed thru overnight Saturday resulting in high pressure, cool temps and bluebird skies... not the best conditions. But Jake will never cry "Uncle" when it comes to fishing. He kept us plugging away all day long ... skipping Spro frogs across the grass mats. It certainly wasn't a "quantity" day, but it was a great day learning from a master. Greg is an heck of angler as well... he is totally blind in one eye and legally blind in the other. That means he only rarely actually "sees" a bass hit a frog... but he rarely misses either. The man is tuned in to fish by sound and feel. He was inspiring to watch.

The coolest moment of the day for me was when I made a cast and a bass cleared water, coming down and smashing the frog the instant it hit the water. The fish literally had to see it coming through the air and made its move even before it landed. Jake said the fish looked like an outfielder snagging a fly ball before it hit the ground.

We put 8 or 10 fish in the boat... a few were small but we had several quality fish. Of course the whole point of the frog fishing is "quality" of the bites, not the quantity.

I'll be writing more about yesterday's excursion, but wanted to go ahead and share it on CFF because, "Life is good and gettin' better every day!"
