Mmm, pumpkin beer. You should try Epic's Imperial Pumpkin Porter if you get a chance. It's kind of pricey, but it's a nice treat once a year. If you find yourself in Idaho or Wyoming, pick up some New Belgium Pumpkick, it's a little different with just a little tartness from added lemon grass and cranberry juice. Really nice pumpkin ale there.

Nice browns too btw. I love this time of year!

nice.

Make sure you remove those studs before getting into someone's drift boat.

Those cloudy rainy nasty days are the best days for fishing. As far as the choice of beer if it's fruity ( or vegatbly as that's pumpkin) just stick with wine.

I agree with that not a big fan of pumpkin beer, I think my brain is hard wired for pumpkin pie and when I drink a pumpkin beer my brain thinks it should taste more like pie.

@TDT

Any how nice boots and browns I don't know how I ever waded without studs. How are you liking the rubber soles ? I picked up some rubber sole boots a few months ago haven't worn them due the fact the felt ones I have now are still usable. But come winter I think rubber soles will be better you wont have the snow sticking to the felt.

Lemon and Cranberry in a pumpkin beer, now that sounds tasty! Gonna have to try the Epic's take on the Pumpkin flavor. Thanks for the tips!

Good to know. Much like don't tap off your ski boots on the helicopter (you'll damage the fuel tanks), I am sure I would have learned quickly. From the looks of them, it would appear that the studs are removeble.

I wear a size 10.5 shoe. In this case I bought a size 11. The stocking foot in my waders makes up for the 0.5 difference.

I have never tried felt soles before. My last boots were rubber only, no studs. I would recommend rubber soles + studs for sure. Lots more grip out there.

Sweet, sticky for the boots, spicy for the trout you fried up!

I've only tried felt waders, though I've waded, or crossed rivers in hiking books, don't know if them rubbers be different, softer maybe? The hiking boots were pretty solid.

I've dabbled with a few Holiday brew concoctions in my day, and the one lesson I learned - less is more. Subtle is your flavor friend. Hint, don't subdue!

Coriander!
Just be warned, that Epic beer is a pretty serious beer. It's 8%, black as coffee and has a huge brown head. It's perfect for a cold fall evening like tonight.

There has been a thread started at the link below comparing different beers. Please post your thoughts on this beer if you don't mind, not a lot of post coming from this part of the country. Thanks

I will definitely do that. I love discussing craft beers, so I'll be right on that.

First off, nice boots. I'll be in the market for some very soon. I don't care to mess with studs, so I hope I can find some good old lug sole...or a cheapo pair of hikers.

PM me with the cost on those, if ya don't mind.

As far as the brew, I'll see that Epic and raise you an Imperial Stout. Now that's the stuff. Nice full flavor beer that finishes smoothly and after only one, I'm calling old buddies to tell them how great they are.[laugh]

But what's this about tapping boots on a heli? I grew up around helicopters and have never heard anything like that. Many a muddy boot has been kicked off against the skids and the bird was no worse for wear.

The fuel tanks are typically behind the passenger seats. Where you tappin?

Don't try to ruin a new urban legend in the making with logic[laugh]. When people say things that far away from reality I Smile and keep quite because there's little chance they'll get it[shocked].
ETDT real sorry for alluding to somewhere that stretches over a 100 miles as the location. I just assumed you realized the river was obvious to 99.9% of viewers that live within a hundred miles of you.

I kept the name off the post, and according to forum rules, you should have done so to. Not to hard to respect that. I get PM's with all sorts of guesses, and you really narrowed it down for some folks.

I never used to be very secretive until I met a few "followers". I have had people actually come up to me and tell me that they fished the exact spot, with the same gear, the very next day after I posted.

I appreaciate your comments, just not the hotspot.

Take care Riverdog.

Actually we did not fry them this time. We chose to set the oven to 350F, lay the fillets in a pan, cover them in Lawry's Seasoning Salt, and wrap them in bacon.

Hmmmmmm Goooooood I tell ya!
