Went with 2 friends to Strawberry this morning. Arriving at Renegade 'bout 7:30am. Temp was at 18 degrees, and fog on the lake surface. The fishing was great, the fish hit pretty much everything. From trolling/casting rapalas to bait fishing with worm. Most fish was in the slot limit. Between the 3 of us, we caught 41 and lost 8. No picture today, but sure was a fun day...[fishon]
Awesome! Quick question, were the fish within casting distance of the shore? Im heading up there tomorrow with the girlfriend and im hoping to get into some fish.

Did you happen to look up on the mountains? How low is the snow line?

18 degrees? Celsius?

41 isn't too shabby at all for a couple hours fishing. Glad it was a Good day for you all.

We were about 60-80 yards out from the shore. Rainbow rapala and brown trout rapala work great at Renegade and the meadow. Hope this help, goodluck...

Musta been just where you were. I have friends that stay up there and no 18s That is crazy cold.

Your guides (eyes) must have been ice up terrible.

18 really ? wow now thats cold Could be a record since the lowest temp Duchesne has had in the month of Sept is 20 degrees F. I too was going to head up Friday & Saturday I always check the weather report before I go but don't recall seeing 18 degrees more like 27 to 29 but maybe windchill caused you thermometer to take a dive.

Anyhow nice job on the Cuts for some reason this is is Rainbow season for me I continually keep hooking bows no cuts.

Wind chill doesn't make a thermometer to register colder than ambient temperature.

Strawberry is in a bowl, and the cold air settles to the bottom. It was 28° F. Friday morning. Clear skies Friday night. I don't doubt for a minute there could have been 18° readings on Saturday.

I was there Saturday morning also left camp @ current creek around 8:30 am the Trucks navigation system read 24. Any how not arguing with you it could have dipped down to 18 who knows.

Cold air flows down hill especially on calm nights. So I don't doubt for a second that he might of gone through an area of 18 F where someone 10 miles away by the lake might see temps 10 degrees higher.
I saw frost here on the SLC benches both Friday and Saturday mornings out walking the dogs around sunrise.

I dont know I would think since CC is at a higher altitude out would be cooler but who knows who cares[bobhappy]

It just depends. I like to watch the temps on Skyline Drive. Sometimes it's colder there than at Scofield, but not often. The warm air seems to rise up from Fairview and keep the temps moderated on the ridge tops, and the cold settles in the mountain valleys.

Regardless, I made it up there today. 8 am was a blustery 32 degrees. Asked the friends that are staying up there and high 20's and low 30's. Like I said, had to be isolated to where ever you were.
Water temp as of today...52 degrees and lotsa big clumps of green ooze, but what a blast.

Thanks for the report Red.
