Saturday, I and a good friend (Dave Offret) took a trip to the Berry for some early morning fishing. We found a hole over on the east side of the Medows that were holding some big cuts. Third one was a keeper at just a tad over 22 ... Dave's biggest trout ever:

A little later he netted this nice bow:

It was a beautiful morning to be out. The air temps started at 19 degrees and ended at 60. The water temps ranged from 54-56.

We caught all fish casting something. Either Lucky Crafts or perl white tube jigs tipped with chub meat. We didn't catch a single fish verticle jigging! But then again, we never really found any concentrations of fish.

We didn't catch many fish. I think we only caught about a dozen all day. But we had a good time.

Seen Kent of NSL out there with his students. As always, they seemed to have a fish on every time I looked at them.

Congrats on getting into some larger fish. My report is on your other Strawberry thread.

Maybe you would have caught more if you had moved to a warmer area...LOL
Nice trout, and they taste fantastic. I actually kept one this year.[Smile]
I usually deep nymph (which is probably the fly fishing equivalent to vertical jigging) but the fish are scatter a little more so that isn't working well for me either.
However, I am finding schools because I am catching two at a time at different depths.

As far as the temp, maybe you two drive the same make vehicle[laugh][laugh]

Nice pics. sounds like the ater is getting cold to where the bitting should start soon.

For really big fish, try Pointer 125's in "The Narrows" around trees.

So much for that spot[Sad]
