Jeremy has been working on my crew for the past 5 months and also goes to my church, so we have threatened to fish together for some time. Crew started working a different shift so it allowed us to go.
Got a pretty late start due to a few issues, but I had confidence that the bite may be good. and good it WAS!
Started a new spot for me drifting. I only had one rod setup to drift (only had one sinker too). I told Jeremy that I would try and find a fish then pass it off.
Drift one we hit gold! After a bit of coaching, he starts playing the big boy nice and finally we boat the brute. I also forgot my big scale. It bottomed out my 50 lb scale and I didnt get measurements, so not sure exactly how big.
Drift 2 we hook into a 23 lber, drift 3 an 18. On drift four I hook into the Tennessee River and loose my one and only drift rig.
Decide to anchor up on my honey hole next and see what happens.
First an eater.
Second the rod bows down and its game on for Jeremy again. Anchor fishing in current required some new coaching, but he did well and we boat a nice 43#.
Next fish was mine, and it didnt take long. My favorite rod plunges its tip into the water, and I immediately knew this fish was different. I handed rod to him as I pull anchor and quickly get back on the fish. But he wanted no part of it. A deep throbbing on the end of the line told me something really big was quickly winning this battle as he pulled me into unfamiliar territory. when I felt the line tickling something I knew it was about to end. Just could not get on top of him. He won emoConfused
I felt so sick I wanted to throw up, but we go anchor up and I get one last nice fat 39#. Little bugar felt like a minnow after that last tank.
Call it a night and enjoy the calm water and cool air as we soak up the mighty Tennessee river. New Personal Bests set, and new water learned! emoParty
