Hey all,

I just moved to Utah a couple of months ago and have been hitting up the Provo on a constant basis. While the fishing has been pretty good, im looking to do something different next week and i think i might be going to Strawberry. I have never been here before and this lake looks massive!! Where do I start? Ive been reading some reports and it seems Soldier Creek/Narrows is a good place to fish from the shore. I dont have a boat so shoreline access is important. As far as bait goes, it seems white tube jigs tipped with chub meat, worm and bobber, and LC pointers/Rapala Jerk Baits seem to be working well. As far as using chub for bait goes, do you guys buy them frozen from the local bait shop or catch them live? Im not looking for any secret spots, i dont have a problem putting in the time to find my own spots, just looking for some pointers on where i should start to fish and what usually works this time of the year.

THANKS GUYS!!

Welcome to Utah and BFT! Yes you can purchase or catch your own chubs for bait. However they must be dead after you catch them. No live bait sorry...

Thanks for the heads up!! So is it common to catch chub from the shore, or is it more of a boat thing?

I've never caught chub from the shore. But then I have only caught one up at scofield.

No answer on bait, but more places to shore fish. SC there are a lot of fish, but they are in the 14 to 18 inch range. I think the bigger fish are on the Strawberry side and possibly the narrows. Look at Renegade or East Portal Bay (Bryant's Fork) Even Ladders.
