Ok, I feel a preface is in order, seeing how CERTAIN persons cant understand how I seem to fish all the time emoPoke <br />I live out of town over 3 hours away. My work shift is about 3am-3pm. In the afternoon after work, I can either fish or<br />waste my time doing whatever in town. I dont mind going shopping a time or two, but Id rather do something I love and<br />that would be pleasing to the Lord staying out of trouble emoAngel <br />Anyway, to prove I have a job, I invited my TVA project manager Steve at Sequoyah Nuclear to go on a big cat hunt. He<br />is an avid bass guy, so this was a bit new to him. First I forget bait so I had to turn around and get that...lost 35 min there.<br />We hit the river and I run him down on our drifting methods. I get my new V2 trolling motor setup and its baits down.<br />Literally 15 seconds later its game on and Steve does some good battle with a nice 30 lb blue!! One problem, he tried using<br />his bass teqnique of holding line to detect bite and he got a very lovely massive burn from the braided on his hand. His words<br />were...&quot;Ok lesson learned, there is NOOOO mistaking when they hit!!&quot;<br />I improvised and used a very undergunned rod to setup a second drift rig so I could fish too. reel and line were good, but the rod<br />had no backbone for a &quot;biggun&quot;<br />Second drift and the little rod does a curly cue....that fish was all over the place, I think I did about 3 laps around the boat keeping up with it.<br />Steve took it for a while to feel the power of it and said it felt like a swimming log. After a long time, she finally comes up and it weighs in right at 60 or a tad under. Steve was amazing at how big the fish around here can get!<br />on the next drift we both break off our only rigs in the same snag.<br />We hit a my honey hole, only to AGAIN loose a very big fish. Sam has given a recommendation to maybe help me avoid this string of big losses.<br />We boat a few smaller fish, and after another massive take down that unbuttons we call it a night!<br />Great trip Steve!
