Drumking weekly report:

Wanda and I started off the week by driving to Gulf Shores, Alabama on Sunday for about 3 days of vacation with our kids and grand kids and great grand kids from Louisiana. It was a much needed vacation for us. We got back home Wednesday afternoon.

Oct 03, 2013:

I rested Thursday most of the day, but at breakfast I told Wanda that I wished that Polo would call me and ask me to fish for a couple of hours late in the day, and Polo did just that. It was a much needed crappie fix and although the biting was very slow for late evening, we did manage to catch 10 nice keepers on roadbeds. We hit about 4 different roadbeds and fished them for a few minutes each until it became too dark to see. Thanks, Mark, for taking me fishing with you and Freida.

Oct 04, 2013:

Today was the annual 3 Amigo fishing tournament out of my boat at the Riverpark. We had so much fun. Fat Albert got on me right away about being fat, so I had to leave the fat jokes alone. emoBigSmile And, Albert got the day off just right for him by catching his limit on the very first cast as MadBomber and I were getting our rods and lures ready to cast. First cast, Al hooked and fought a big fish til it finally gave up. It was a Gar that was about 3' long and well over 5 lbs.

I got the fish in the net, got the hook out for FA with my pliers, and was reaching for my camera and he, because he wasn't going to lip this toothy critter, said dump him out in the boat. So I did. The fish was so mad at Al that he wounded him on both legs. Once at the right knee, and the 2nd time on the left foot, just where Al's pink crocs would not protect him. emoBang emoHoppingmad

So, before I could even make my first cast of the day, I had to get my first aid kit out and play doctor. Then, MadBomber and I started catching bass. It was a nip and tuck contest from beginning to end. We were fishing in MadBomber's element, so he had a big advantage. I'll let him tell this part of the story. FA just sat there and whined about his injuries, but they did give him a good excuse for not catching another fish for at least 4 hours. emoLaugh

When the bleeding and pain finally stopped, Fat Albert put on a white grub and started catching fish at an alarming rate. A bluegill, a small spot, a small largemouth and hooked up the biggest fish of the day, but it didn't count as he fought it back to the boat, and it never would come up and finally surged under the boat and broke his line. MB and I both agreed, since we didn't see the fish, that it didn't count in our total and it had to be a Drum. emoUpSmile

I never could quite close the gap on MB. Fishing riprap is a big edge for him and I would close the gap to 1 fish and then he would promptly catch another one to go 2 up. All our fish were bass. Fat Albert is the one who fooled with the trashy fish today. Final totals for the 3 Amigo Annual Tournament:

MadBomber 15 bass
Drumking 13 bass
Fat Albert 5 bass, 1 Gar, 1 Bluegill

Can't wait until the next time we are together in the boat. Great fellowship and many laughs. Albert could have caught more fish if he would just leave the telephone alone. He knows more people than those who live in Chattanooga. emoBigSmile emoGeezer

BTW, MB has most of the pics. I only took a few.
